I put this blog page on my site over 18 months ago and have managed 2 posts. Both in March 2017!! I finally have an admin day and decided not to write another meaningless blog post but to write that the main reason for having a garden is so you can enjoy it.
Gardening shouldn't be a chore and shouldn't really take up too much of your time. I usually have a couple of 3 hour blitz's on my garden . Late spring and late Autumn, It shouldn't really need much more than that. (apart from mowing yr lawn and an occasional weed.
I will try and do better with my blog posts (but won't promise.)
Now is the time for that first lawn cut and to enjoy the intoxicating smell of freshly mown grass.
I have also noticed lots of moss this year. It's good to get ontopof it now. After that first cut sprinkle on some feed and weed with moss killer. Your lawn will look pretty awful after a few days but you will reap the benefit of a happy healthy lawn throughout the summer
Have a general tidy up and remove leaves and other debris from your flower borders, lawns and ponds. You can cut back the old dead growth of deciduous grasses and herbaceous perennials now, although if you’d like to be wildlife friendly then it's best to leave the tidy up until early spring. If the soil is workable you can dig a 5cm layer of organic matter such as well-rotted manure, compost or recycled green waste into empty garden borders.
